When I was dealing with anorexia, a lot of people said just one thing to me. They thought that this is the secret of how to overcome an eating disorder. They thought that this is the key of how to cure anorexia and of how to recover successfully. They said: “Why don’t you just eat? Just eat!” If only it would be that easy, I would have never had anorexia. It’s the same if you would say to someone who is dealing with depressions: “Stop being so sad.” It’s the same if you would say to someone who is dealing with alcohol problems: “Stop drinking!” It’s the same if you would say to someone with schizophrenia: “Stop imagine things which aren’t here.” It’s the same if you would say to someone with a post traumatic stress disorder: “Just forget what’s happened!” It’s the same if you would say to someone with an anxiety disorder: “Stop being so anxious.” Does that sound easy to you? See! If it would be that easy mental illnesses won’t exist. Eating only is not the only way out of anorexia. It’s so much more. But there are ways out of anorexia. Recovery is possible. Don’t ashamed. Take help if you need it.
